Frequently Asked Questions
How are acetone powders used for antibody pre-adsorption?
Acetone powders are tissue proteins dried with acetone, which removes lipids and water while preserving the antigens. Incubating an antiserum with acetone powder from the host species or an unrelated tissue lets cross-reactive antibodies bind to the powder and be removed, lowering background in immunohistochemistry, western blotting and other immunoassays.
Which tissues do you make acetone powders from?
We manufacture acetone powders from rabbit brain (41110, 41170), rabbit thymus (41008), rabbit muscle (41995), bovine lung (57053) and bovine heart (57195). Each starts from frozen tissue that is washed and acetone-dried to remove lipids while preserving the tissue proteins.
