What researchers say about Pel-Freez
“Pel-Freez's IgG/IgM depleted human complement has been crucial for complement-dependent bactericidal assays in my lab. The material is of the highest quality, with minimal lot-to-lot variation. This reagent has saved us considerable time and expense.”
Professor
University of Massachusetts Medical School
“Pel-Freez is our first choice as a supplier for biological matrices and complement. Their product quality and consistency of product lot to lot enables us to develop premier bacterial assays in support of the world's premier vaccine biopharmaceutical companies with confidence.”

Frequently Asked Questions
May I receive a sample of your products? Will you hold a reserve of the product while I complete my testing?
Yes! We understand our products are used in a variety of applications and testing is often required to ensure acceptability. We are happy to provide samples and hold reserves up to 30 days. While we often have multiple inquiries for each lot of our products, we do our best to fulfill all customer requests.
Should I store antibodies at –20 °C or at –80 °C? Should I aliquot them upon delivery?
Either –20 °C or –80 °C is acceptable depending on the usage; however, avoid multiple freeze-thaw cycles. Our antibodies contain glycerol which will inhibit freezing at –20 °C; however, the materials will freeze at –80 °C. If the antibody will be consumed within a few weeks of delivery, we recommend storage at –20 °C. For long-term storage, we recommend sub-aliquoting in single-use aliquots then storing at –80 °C.
How do I reconstitute lyophilized human serum products?
Lyophilized human serum products may be reconstituted by bringing the vial to ambient temperature then resuspending in sterile water equal to the volume on the product label. For lyophilized complement products, resuspending in a volume less than the label volume will increase complement potency, useful in applications requiring increased complement activity.
How is Pel-Freez Biologicals’ antibody-depleted complement made?
We have developed a proprietary process for antibody removal based on affinity chromatography. Our method results in low residual antibody (<3% vs. feed serum) while maintaining high complement potency.
